Laser Hair Removal

Goodbye shaving and waxing! Our Cartessa Chrome laser eliminates unwanted facial and body hair quickly and safely. Laser hair removal is a noninvasive procedure. During the procedure the laser emits highly concentrated energy to the targeted hair follicles without causing harm to the surrounding skin. The pigment in the follicle absorbs the energy and causes weakening of the follicle. For maximum effectiveness, a laser hair removal treatment cycle will be recommended. Most patients need 6-8 treatments to target all hairs in a treatment site. This is because, at any one time, some hair follicles will be in a growth phase while others will be dormant. Only hair that is actively growing will respond to treatment, and each additional treatment will be able to target follicles that were previously in a dormant state.

Our laser hair removal is great for all skin types and most hair types. Treatment works best when the skin is lighter than the hair being treated, so people with light blonde, red, or gray hair may see more limited results than those with very light skin and very dark hair.

Most common areas for laser hair removal:

  • upper lip

  • chin

  • neck

  • underarms

  • bikini area

What to Expect During Treatment

The procedure is quick and relatively comfortable. A numbing agent may be applied before the treatment depending on the targeted area. The process takes about 30-45 minutes, and results gradually improve over the following months. A series of 6-8 sessions is usually recommended to ensure optimal results.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Laser hair removal is ideal for individuals looking to decrease hair growth and thickness in a particular area. Laser hair removal works best for dark, coarse hair as the laser targets pigment. Laser hair removal can be safe for most skin types, but a consultation is required to make sure you would be a good candidate and will achieve the best possible outcome. Your practitioner will review your medical history with you at your appointment.

Results & Recovery

  • Minimal downtime—most patients resume daily activities immediately

  • Before laser hair removal you will want to avoid plucking, waxing and electrolysis for 6 weeks, shaving is fine

  • You must also avoid sun exposure for 6 weeks before and after treatment. Sun exposure makes complications such as blistering, irritation and pigmentation, after the treatment more likely

  • Initially, the treated area may have mild redness and slight inflammation around the follicles, but this will diminish over the first couple of hours

  • Detailed post-procedure instructions will be reviewed after your service

  • Results will begin to show in one to two weeks, as the treated hair begins to fall out
