Kara is a compassionate & dedicated, doctorally prepared family nurse practitioner with 12 years of patient care experience. She co-founded Beauty Bar and Wellness with the goal of empowering others to feel good and gain confidence. She is committed to listening/addressing clients concerns in order to provide optimal outcomes and reach their unique goals. She has a passion to make others feel valued and will be your ultimate “Hype Girl!”
Kara graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Spalding University in 2011 and then continued her education in 2018, completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Kentucky. For the past four years, she has worked as a family nurse practitioner in urgent care. She has encountered many skin concerns and become skilled at performing intricate procedures. Client safety and satisfaction are her top priorities. She is married, loves spending time for her family/friends, and her rescued border collie, Rayna.

Amber L. Gahafer, MSN, FNP-C
Amber is an experienced family nurse practitioner. She received a Nurse Practitioner degree from Spalding University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from University of Louisville. She has over 12 years of nursing experience, with 9 years of experience in dermatology. Her passion for skin care has helped her manage a variety of skin conditions, as well as teach people how to help prevent skin cancers and premature aging of the skin. Amber loves helping others, and enjoys teaching people how to take care of their health and skin to look and feel younger!
Amber loves learning about new products and procedures, and is dedicated to keeping clients safe and comfortable. She believes in enhancing the beauty you already have, but wants to help you feel more beautiful, youthful, and confident! Amber is married, enjoys spending time with family and friends, and her dog, Harley.

Elissa F. Johnson, DNP, BSE, FNP-C, ACHPN
Elissa is a dedicated, doctorally prepared, family nurse practitioner, with over 13 years experience as a patient and family-centered healthcare provider. She co-founded Beauty Bar and Wellness with the goal of helping others optimize their health and wellbeing. She is committed to improving quality of life, promoting self-confidence, and preventing illness for her clients. Her practice offers safe, efficacious medical treatments/procedures aimed at improving how her clients look and feel; while also equipping them with knowledge and resources to reduce signs and symptoms of aging and improve function.
Elissa has dedicated her practice to meeting clients where they are and providing individualized care based on the unique needs of the person. She also holds certifications in family, hospice, and palliative care medicine. She is married with three sons and enjoys time spent exploring the outdoors with her family.

Janelle started in the beauty and wellness industry over 20 years ago out of sheer passion and excitement for skin care. Originally from Austin, Texas, she specialized in a natural and holistic approach to skin health as the Regional Director for a large luxury spa chain. Her studies took her to New York City where she went on to become a licensed medical aesthetician, studying at Christine Valmy, The United States’ first and original school of aesthetics. While in New York she worked with the latest technologies in medical aesthetics including lasers, chemical peels, and IPL systems, and brought her expertise as a makeup artist to the runways of Fall Fashion Week.
After moving to Louisville in 2010 she continued her passion for skin health by focusing in Dermatology with a specialization in lasers. She is a proud clinical trainer for Cynosure, the leading developer and manufacturer of a broad array of light-based aesthetic and medical treatment systems. She is certified in Photofacials, Laser Hair Removal, IPL Treatments, Laser Tattoo Removal, Laser Scar Revision, Laser Leg Veins, and an array of Skin Rejuvenation treatments using lasers, radio frequency, ultrasound, and micro-needling. Janelle also specializes in dermaplaning, chemical peels, medical grade facials, microdermabrasion, advanced acne therapies and the latest in medical grade skincare.
Janelle co-founded Beauty Bar & Wellness with the goal of “raising the bar” - bringing education, hope, and confidence to each of her clients. Driven by her passion for results and creating a lasting relationship with her clients, she will walk on this journey with you every step of the way. She believes in offering complimentary consultations so she can curate a customized plan to achieve each client’s individual skin care goals. Janelle knows her clients are already beautiful, but feeling confident in one’s skin is incredibly empowering, and Janelle wants each of her clients to believe in their beauty.
When Janelle is not slaying wrinkles, you can find her doing all things mom with her two incredible children. She loves good food and traveling especially when experiencing both alongside her husband. And Sundays are always reserved for Faith and Football!
