What Are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators are purified botulinum toxin type A preparations. Injected in very small amounts into a specific muscle, they temporarily block the nerve signal telling that muscle to contract. Less contraction means fewer new lines forming, and existing lines gradually soften.
They treat dynamic wrinkles, or the lines caused by muscle movement. Lines caused by lost volume are a different problem, treated with dermal fillers or collagen biostimulators. Many patients combine both, and your provider will tell you honestly what your concern actually calls for.
Treatment takes about 10 minutes. You will notice changes within a few days, with full results at about two weeks. Depending on the product and the area, results last roughly three to six months.
Which Neuromodulator Is Right for You?
Botox® Cosmetic – The most established option, with the longest track record and broadest set of FDA-approved cosmetic areas.
Dysport® – Tends to show results quickly and spreads slightly more, which suits broader areas like the forehead.
Jeuveau® – Developed specifically for cosmetic use.
Xeomin® – A purified formulation with no added carrier proteins.
Daxxify® – Longest-lasting option in trials; a strong fit if you would rather come in less often.
Letybo® – One of the newest FDA-approved options in the U.S.
Have your medical history prepared for your consultation. If a previous treatment wore off faster than you expected, or did not work as effectively as expected, that is useful information that may help your provider recommend a better treatment or different dose.
